[Lydia knows she's always going to be unprepared for seeing her. This will be the third time and only the first time that the burden of truth doesn't rest on her shoulders. It doesn't make it any easier for her to start again. To see her with what should be hope for her to be happybhere and instead be struck with all the times she's left before. Where the choice is hers and she opts to go back to death. It doesn't make it hurt less that she still keeps needing to come here. From alternate worlds. Different realms. Always the same fate for her best friend.
Heading over to the given address, she tries to be happy. To not show up at her door in tears. The walk is over sooner than she anticipated, though and she finds herself unsure as she knocks on the door. She hopes that it'll just fall into place. That it will just be like it was before. She has to hope for something.]
[ Ever since Allison heard that Lydia was here she’s wanted to see her, but since Isaac broke the news to her of her own death she’s been wondering if that’s in Lydia’s best interests. Would a meeting with her dead best friend be too painful? Would it be exactly what she needed or would it just be unnecessarily opening old wounds? Allison doesn’t know the answer. She wants to see Lydia, but she’s hesitant wondering if it’ll be a happy meeting.
When she opens the door, there’s a faint smile on her face. The expression is tentative, like she doesn’t know whether or not to smile. Of course she’s pleased to see Lydia. In fact, she wants to throw her arms around her and hug her, but she holds back, waiting and watching her for confirmation that doing such a thing is okay. ]
[She always looks the same. Three different instances of the same girl and she's always the same. Strong features, dark hopeful eyes, and Lydia just sees her best friend - back from the dead again. It should get easier, each time she comes back, but all Lydia thinks about is each time she's left. All the wrong choices she made in telling her - not telling her. Isaac took that burden away, but it still lingers. The regret of previous times of not being there for her.
Even with all that Lydia feels, the most pressing emotion is relief. She steps toward her friend and moves to embrace her.]
[ It’s such a relief when Lydia hugs her. Allison welcomes the gesture, wrapping her arms around her best friend and holding her close. Time works in a funny way between worlds, but in the time Allison has come from Lydia was just abducted by the Nogitsune. Seeing her safe and unharmed gives Allison a kind of relief that can’t be put into words.
After a long moment, she pulls away from the hug with a smile on her face. ]
I’m really glad you’re here, Lydia.
[ She’s not just saying it, either. Allison is truly glad that she has her best friend with her to experience this place with. After a second, she steps to the side and gestures for Lydia to step inside. ]
[Lydia nods, stepping in and glancing around. She keeps expecting to see the Argent home. She knows it's silly, that her own homenisnt even here, but it still feels like an automatic desire.]
I'm sorry I didn't reach out sooner. I know it must have been weird. Knowing I'm here, but not knowing who should reach out first.
It's okay. I don't think there's really a right way to do these things. It's not like they explain who else is here when they invite you.
[She pauses.]
Plus, I know Isaac spoke with you and I -- I've been the one to explain all of that to you twice before. I'm your best friend and I've always felt like it was on me to do it. To be the one to hold your hand and explain the events back home and here.
It's just... I've been here for that twice now and both times you've chosen to leave and I keep thinking it's me. That it's too much to be here for me. For everyone else.
[ ooc: I'm sorry I let this one slip. Life has been abnormally complicated. I'm going to respond, but if you'd like to drop it I'd understand. I would also understand continuing it, though. ]
Lydia... [ Allison smiles softly. She places a hand on her best friend's shoulder, not knowing if in doing so she might be overstepping. This is a weird situation that she doesn't know the rules for. ] I get it. If I had to tell you time after time that you...
[ It gets caught in her throat. Allison doesn't like thinking about any of her friends dying, especially not Lydia. Especially when just before arriving she'd thought Lydia's life was in danger. ]
If I had to tell you that you'd died even one time it would be extremely hard on me. You're stronger, but you shouldn't have to push your limits like that. It's okay to rely on someone else to deliver the bad news.
[She waits for Allison's words to come to a close, but the touch to her shoulder had brought her back to a need of just having her best friend here. Lydia moves to pull her into a hug, holding onto her tightly. She misses her every time she leaves and each time she comes back she just hopes it'll stick. Lydia doesn't go home out of fear of missing out on time with her.]
[ Allison's arms also wrap around Lydia, hugging her close. It means the world to her knowing that her best friend is safe and sound and right in front of her. She rests her chin on Lydia's shoulder. ]
I'm glad you're here, too.
[ She smiles even though Lydia can't see the expression on her face. ]
hey!! welcome (back) to our fair city sorry I was living under a rock and missed it when you got here Lydia told me that you've talked to her and Isaac what about the others? do you need anything??
Hey, Stiles! Don't worry about it. From what I can tell there's a lot going on here. So far I've spoken to Lydia, Isaac, Erica, Cora, Scott, and now you. No, I'm doing alright, but thanks for asking. How have you been?
more than you'd expect but less than you're used to you've gotten to everyone then well there's Derek but meh I'm good! I've been here for... ages settled in is the term I'd use
Yeah, I don't expect Derek to give me a warm reception, so maybe that's for the best. Settled in is good, I guess. It seems like a nice place to be settled into. What do you do around here? Do you have a job or anything?
warm isn't in that guy's vocabulary it's nice, yeah quiet no, I've thought about it but haven't found anything I'm taking classes at the college thinking about enrolling full-time living with a coven of witches
I didn't even consider college as an option. That'd be something to do eventually. I met a witch. Are there a lot of them here? Magic is a serious thing? I mean, I guess all things considered I shouldn't be all that surprised, but we didn't seem to have an abundance of witches back home.
the crazy thing is I'm college-aged now can you believe that?? who did you meet? I think there's a lot of different kinds all the guys I live with are from the same world though and hell yeah it's seriously awesome you should come over sometime and get them to show you
College-aged? That's a mind bender. I'm still used to being a year older than the rest of you. Cool, though. A girl named Anna? Really nice. Offered to give me honey? Sure, that sounds fun. Where are you?
weird right? I think I'm the oldest out of us now Annabella? she's friends with my housemates we live in a mini castle but I've got my Jeep here I could pick you up?
[Lydia arrives in about sixteen minutes. She tells the waitress that she's waiting for someone and so she gets seated where she can easily see the door. She glances at the menu, even though she knows what she wants, as she waits for Allison.]
[ Allison arrives only a couple minutes after Lydia. As she walks in, the first thing she spots is Lydia seated at the table looking over the menu. She waves in hopes that she'll look up and then approaches her table, smiling. ]
Scott grabs a few things and tosses them into an overnight bag before heading to Allison's apartment. Luckily, she isn't far-- not that she could be, being in the same complex-- and he's knocking at the door a few short minutes later.
Allison is a whirlwind of action, picking up and cleaning her room. It’s only a little cluttered, but this is definitely one guest that she wants to impress. When she hears the door, she’s in the middle of making her bed. Straightening out the covers will have to make do. She hurries to the door and opens it with a smile.
Scott wouldn't care if Allison's room was an absolute tornado right now (or probably ever because it's Allison). When she answers the door so quickly, he can't help but grin. He obviously wasn't the only eager one, and that never stops being amazing.
"Hey, you," he says softly as he slips inside and before he even puts bag down, he kisses her softly. Truthfully, it's more weird that they aren't living together, since they'd just moved in together not so long ago back in Lawrence. But... he wasn't sure how to approach that again just yet, and he's not hating his current roommate situation, really. Even if this was a sudden and unexpected, necessary disappearing act out of his own apartment.
Allison is all too happy to kiss Scott back, placing her hands on his shoulders as she does so. She smiles into the kiss, happy to have him over at her apartment. It feels natural, a little more like Lawrence, like things are supposed to be. When she pulls away, Allison is still smiling up at Scott. He has a way of making her smile no matter what the situation is.
“That was nice,” she comments, regarding the kiss. Without asking, she volunteers to pick up his bag and carries it into her bedroom setting it down on the foot of the bed. Turning around, she faces him and shrugs, gesturing to their surroundings. “This is it. I haven’t gotten much of a chance to make it my own, but it’s home for now. The bed’s comfy, at least.” Allison smiles playfully, plopping down on the mattress and bouncing a little bit.
"Mmm, agreed." He grins and follows her as she leads the way through the apartment to her bedroom and sets his bag aside. The layout of the place seems exactly the same, and he supposes that makes sense, considering.
"You'll make it yours soon enough," of that he has no doubts. Allison is adaptable with the best of them, and he knows she'll adjust to this place in no time. Even easier now that they both have this whole multiverse thing under their belts already. He chuckles softly as he moves toward where she's sitting, "Yeah? Is it?" He asks, all but pinning her where she sits, leaning down to kiss her again, one hand going up to cup the side of her face as he leans over her, guiding her backward toward the mattress, sliding over her body in a near seamless motion. "Let me see," he mumbles against her lips, grinning.
