Yeah, this girl I knew. She was obsessed with telling people about her dragon, going on rides and all that.

[ he chuckles and sighs a little. it's been a while since she left. that girl was difficult to figure out but it was nice to have someone else from home who didn't think he was the worst at one point in her life. ]

I'm not prepared for that kind of upkeep to be honest. We're almost there, by the way.

[cramped]

[ The corner of Isaac's mouth upturns a bit sadly. Of course Allison has always been good at sussing out his moods. ]

Yeah but it might put you off your appetite. [ He sighs a bit defeatedly. This is going to be difficult even with the best of intentions in mind. ]

[sofar]

Pretty much. That's my motto. Nothing gotta be fancy.

A few. It ain't difficult. Want me to teach you?

[proudofus]

[ She grins. Allison can't even imagine the kind of upkeep having a dragon around involves. ]

I'm not prepared in any way for a dragon as a pet.

[ Allison nods, still following Wells' directions. ]

[ Her eyebrows wrinkle together. That sounds bad. ]

I can eat later. [ She looks concerned, for herself and for Isaac. ] What is it, Isaac? What's wrong?

[proudofus]

I'm sure there's a spot around here you could set up bottles or something.

Yeah, it sounds fun.

[cramped]

[ Isaac sighs again, even more heavily this time. He glances away for a moment and then forces his gaze back at her, his own brows furrowing. ]

Look -- there's no easy way to say this, so I'm just gonna -- [ He makes a noise of obvious frustration at himself. ]

Back at home. You died. There was nothing any of us could do to stop it. That's part of why I'm even here.

[proudofus]

[ Her breath catches in her throat. For some reason it makes sense. Sometimes in a movie after the big revelation one can look back and see little signs pointing towards it. That's sort of what's going on in Allison's mind right now. ]

Wow. I didn't expect it then, but I guess it makes sense.

[ She pauses a second. ]

Is everyone else okay?

[cramped]

[ Isaac watches anxiously from across the table as Allison begins to process this information. His eyes are a bit watery with unshed tears and he's back to studiously avoiding looking at her. ]

Yeah. I think so. Lydia is -- she's here too. She's the furthest out of all of us.

[ He clears his throat. ]

I guess -- there's something else you should probably know.

[proudofus]

[ Allison frowns sympathetically and reaches across the table to hold Isaac's hand. Whatever he has to say seems difficult. ]

Okay.

[ She nods, taking a moment to prepare herself for whatever it is he has to say. ]

What is it?

[cramped]

[ The most difficult part is already over. This next part is just mildly awkward but hiding it didn't work out so good in the past. He even sounds a bit sheepish when he admits: ]

Uh, well. Lydia and I. We were sort of... dating. Here. For awhile.

[proudofus]

[ Her eyelids flutter slightly, but otherwise she shows no reaction. It's funny that this piece of news is a bigger surprise than her own death. ]

Oh. Okay.

[ She swallows and nods slowly, trying to take the news as well as she can. It is hard to hear that someone she was sort of with was dating her best friend, but the circumstances aren't that simple. ]

I get it. I died.

[cramped]

Actually, when I first came here I was from really far in the past. I didn't know. I mean, Lydia told me but that's not the same as actually living it.

I don't think either of us ever meant for it to get so serious.

Anyway it doesn't matter. It's over now. [ Isaac doesn't intend to sound so hurt about it. He gives Allison's hand a light squeeze. ]

But I didn't want you to think I, we, were keeping secrets from you.

[proudofus]

[ That makes more sense, she supposes. Allison nods, frowning slightly in sympathy. It still feels a little weird, but Isaac and Lydia are important to her in any world. She'll be there for them regardless of what might have transpired. ]

It's okay. I'm glad that you told me.

[ There's the ghost of a smile on her lips. ]

Thanks, Isaac.

[ It couldn't have been easy to tell her any of it. Maybe it was even as difficult to deliver the news as it was to receive it. Allison holds onto his hand thinking about this. ]

[cramped]

[ Her smile is immeasurably comforting to him. He ends up just nodding, falling silent for a few moments as they continue to hold hands across the table. ]

I really am glad you're here.

[proudofus]

[ Her smile brightens a little. It's a sentiment she's familiar with. Her eyes look down to the table for a moment before connecting with Isaac's again. ]

I'm glad you're here, too. I mean, everyone's been friendly, but it's better with you around.

[uprights]

[ for a moment, he becomes self conscious, wondering what she'll make of the sight they're about to behold. he'd seen the cartoons at some point, understanding the craze about these little creatures. rounding another corner, he's quiet while they come up on a very large...

pikachu habitat. ]

[proudofus]

[ When Allison catches sight of the animals Wells meant to show her her eyes go even wider. This is something familiar and yet it's still completely unbelievable. Her hand covers her mouth and she looks to him, laughing in disbelief. ]

They have pokemon in the zoo? Pikachu??

[uprights]

Isn't it kind of crazy?

[ he chuckles, amused by her reaction. whether people are familiar with pokemon or not, the prospect of an electric rodent is pretty wild. maybe even wilder than a deer with two heads.
maybe that world face some intense radiation problems before the pokemon appeared. ]

They're pretty cute, though.

[sofar]

They got all kinds of law folk around here. Would they be alright with that? Not that I ain't got no problem doing the opposite of what the law wants, but I don't wanna get kicked out.

[proudofus]

Really cute.

[ Allison grins. This she never would have expected. She expected it even less than dragons. ]

Does anyone have one of them as a pet?

[ She looks to Wells wondering if they have any Pokemon trainers in Eudio. ]

[proudofus]

I don't know. It's probably best to ask or just to give the range a shot. I don't want to get either of us kicked out.

[uprights]

There was actually a big adoption thing here a while ago. [ he chuckles, casually folding his arms over his chest. ] I don't think anyone fights them like on the show, but they do hang out with them now.

[proudofus]

[ She shakes her head slowly in disbelief. ]

This zoo is insane, and I mean that in a good way.

[ Allison laughs quietly. ]
